Lately we have had some skin issues but nothing related to the surgery.

Day 18.
Well Eleanor had a turn for the worse lately. She was doing very well but then got very sick. She puked and then had blood in her stool.
We took her to the vet and they gave her a shot to help her not be so nauseous and also some antibiotics for her intestines.
I don't think it is related to her fho surgery but you never know. She has gone through so much it just breaks us apart to watch her have to fight something else off.
She is on a high fiber diet. Mostly chicken and Cheerios. Plus she can have a few other things. Since the medicine she is acting better. She has not had a stool movement for a day and a half now but the vet called and said that is good and the medicine seems to be working.
So in the mean time we are crossing our fingers and hoping everything is good.
I have continued to walk Eleanor when she is feeling good but right now it is easy street for her.
Hope to have better news soon.

Day 14.
I have not posted much since Eleanor had her stitches out. Most of that is because she is getting better little by little. We have been going on small walks. We didn't get any directions still so I pulled up other dr directions and it said two weeks to a month do 3 five minutes a walk a day.
Since I was not sure about this because Eleanor didn't walk that much before we have done 2 five minute walks a day and we will see how that goes.
When watcher Eleanor become our dog again, well no words can explain the amount of happiness we feel. So we are very happy how much progress she has made.

Day 12
Not much has changed since my last post. Eleanor has several good days and some bad.
Having a regular schedule has helped her with sleeping and eating.
Today she gets her stitches removed. Her cut is completely shut and in some places healed.

Day 10
Today I over did it. I saw a squirrel and tried to run after it in our yard. I shouldn't of done that!
Eleanor is fine but today she needs to rest. She thinks at times she should be able to run because of how she feels so I have learned it is time to use the leash more.

Day 9.
Eleanor use to roll around on the carpet in the morning to itch herself. She has not done that for a long time. This morning she did. It is good to see our puppy back even if it is for short burst.
I can't imagine what it will be like in three months.

Day 8.
Eleanor continues to grow stronger in the leg. After all the concerns about doing this Hope and I are glad we did.
She looks different. She acts different. We are proud of her recovery.
Day 7.
Eleanor is doing well. We are now having to stop her from running at times. She continues to show us why she is a tough dog.
Her she is walking on her leg at day 7.

Day 6
We have another dog. She is a puppy and is very active. She has done a good job being cautious with Eleanor. Today however it appears that Eleanor wanted to start a play session and I did not think it was a good idea. Then Eleanor wanted to play with a ball and run. Again I might be to protective but thought not yet.
So we went on a short walk. Based on the internet I read short leash walks should be okay so we walked for about two minutes. That seemed to do the trick to get that energy out of her.
Eleanor is walking longer. She continues to put more weight on her FHO leg as well.
I am a little concern about her other leg for it was the best of the two but her hip socket in that one is gone as well. So we will see as time goes on.
So things go well for us and Eleanor. As of now we are very happy we have done this surgery on her.

Day 5.
Eleanor is having regular bowel movements. We continue to ice and monitor walking. Here is day 5 as she is walking.

Day 4
Today not much has changed. Eleanor is doing well. She needed a little more rest today. She woke up sore from walking around so much yesterday.
So we decided rest was best. We continued to ice and allowed her to walk outside to go to the restroom. Great news Eleanor finally had a bowel movement. One less thing to worry about.
Eleanor continues to eat well and drink. We had to add some eggs or other favorites in food to get her interested. I think she is spoiled and wants it now with that always lol. She earned it so a little won't hurt.
Walking has not changed much from day three. She continues to put more weight on the leg and can stand longer amounts of time, but again today was rest day.

Day 3
Well Eleanor is doing great. We are icing her about 4 to 5 times a day. We made an ice pack out of alcohol and water. It is pretty cold.
Our only concern now is her bowel movement. She did great on day one but is not regularly going now. It appears that is normal but we will give her some pumpkin today to see if it helps her.
Here is a video of her walking on day three! She is one tough girl!

Day 2.

Video of Eleanor standing and trying to walk on day 2. She is eating better and drinking so the appetite is getting better. I have to watch her. She tried to climb stairs twice.

Picking Eleanor up.
Hope and I just picked up Eleanor at 4:30 pm today. At least she gets to come home the same day!
She looks pissed off and she should be. No one could explain to her what was going on. No one asked her. It needed to be done but she doesn't know that. We received very little instructions except make sure she gets her antibiotics. What if she doesn't eat? This is a mess. We love you Eleanor.
Hope rode in the back with Eleanor. I think that helped her feel less pissed off. Maybe it was me. I on the other hand getting death stares on how could you do this to me.
Eleanor goes in for surgery.
Well it is 8:00 am and Eleanor and I arrive at the Dr office where she will be having her FHO surgery. She always shakes in the car and today I am not shaking but I am afraid for her. This is a huge surgery and it has a long road to recovery. That is why Hope and I wanted to start this blog. We have received very little information on what will be ahead for our family. What will Eleanor be like and what we needed to make it better. So anyone who has questions about this we hope you learn with us if you have an English bulldog or any other type of dog doing this.
Eleanor is 2 years old and was born with bad hips. Recently she has formed a limp and this surgery is to help her grow old with us!
